Hello Hackers / Pentesters / and Kali Linux Users, Lets today FIX KALI LINUX SLOW UPDATE. We have been using Kali Linux for some time now and we might be wondering the reason for a very slow Update process even on fast Internet connections. Well not now, here is the fix in few very simple steps.
We Need to change the Repositories List in sources.list to a faster Kali Linux Mirror and the mirror List is here – Kali Linux Mirror List– https://http.kali.org/README.mirrorlist
Edit your sources.list located at /etc/apt/sources.list , in terminal type
From the Countries Mirror List select the one with the least Prio, Less Prio Faster Response
We have to do slight editing in the URL of the mirror we select. Like the URL of selected Mirror is – https://mirrors.ocf.berkeley.edu/kali/README

We Strip it to https://mirrors.ocf.berkeley.edu/kali , that is remove the parts of url after this , we remove /README nad it is only – https://mirrors.ocf.berkeley.edu/kali
You can check and change the difference in http and https and accordingly make it
NOTE :The https is now supported in apt and it will prevent any ISP / application eavesdropping on what packages your are downloading, you can opt HTTPS as you think, doesnot matters in case of speed much, some might say https will not let your ISP throttle the speed
Now in Source List Replace the default Kali Linux Rolling Repository URL with the choice of your Mirror List URL

Now when you did the steps right, only the new/changed mirror should be there not the old else it will fetch for the list twice.
Chnage your Default DNS to something faster Like CloudFlare DNS or Google DNS, the default DNS may not be as fast, so change it to cloudflare DNS and save the file.
